BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Head Coach Dennis Williams of the BGSU Ice Hockey program has announced the signing of Brian Lonergan (Montvale, NJ) for the 2025–26 season. Lonergan is a right-handed defenseman out of Montvale, N.J., who most recently played for the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL).
Lonergan brings playoff experience to the Falcons defensive unit, as he was a member of the 2023-24 Fargo Force team that won the USHL’s Clark Cup championship. He spent the following year with the USHL’s Omaha Lancers, putting up his best offensive numbers with three goals and 17 assists. Across his two seasons in the USHL, Lonergan totaled 112 games played, amassing 25 points (4 goals, 21 assists) in that time.
Prior to playing in the USHL, Lonergan spent the 2022-23 season in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) playing for the Minnesota Wilderness. In the NAHL, he totaled eight points (4 goals, 4 assists) in 48 games.
Lonergan marks the latest addition to what, as recently as June 1, was named the best recruiting class in NCAA Division I hockey. The Falcons come into the 2025-26 season with high expectations and will look to get off on the right foot as they open play on Oct. 4 in an exhibition matchup with Robert Morris.
