Founded by Colby Drost in 2019, Paragon Sports Consulting has established itself as a trusted leader in hockey player advising. In April 2024, Colby joined Edge Sports Management, an NHLPA Certified Agency, as a Partner. This partnership allows him to provide full-service player representation and strategic career guidance while continuing to lead Paragon’s player development and advising services.
Over the past seven years, Paragon has helped players secure commitments across NCAA Division I, the USHL, NAHL, BCHL, AJHL, elite prep schools, and top midget programs. Colby has guided players to more than $30 million in scholarships and financial aid. Paragon clients committing to Division I programs earn an average of more than $205,000 in scholarships. Since inception, he has helped 150+ players earn NCAA Division I commitments across all major conferences.
Colby has built a reputation across the hockey world for professionalism, integrity, and a genuine player-first approach. His strategic guidance has enabled players to make informed decisions leading to success at every level — from junior hockey through NCAA Division I programs in conferences including the Big Ten, Hockey East, NCHC, CCHA, Atlantic Hockey, ECAC, and Independent programs.
He brings deep expertise in NCAA compliance, academic eligibility, NLI releases, transfer portal navigation, and European player regulations. Colby also provides specialized guidance for players considering or navigating the Canadian Hockey League (CHL), including draft decisions, trades, eligibility, and transitions to NCAA or professional opportunities.
With more than 27 years in hockey, Colby began his journey as a goaltender before transitioning into coaching, scouting, and hockey operations. From 2015–2019, he served as Director of Scouting for the Dubuque Fighting Saints (USHL), where he helped build a record of 144-99-20-10, contributing to 19 NHL Draft picks and 80+ NCAA Division I commitments. He was instrumental in recruiting Riese Gaber, the 2019-2020 USHL Player of the Year and Forward of the Year.
Colby holds a B.A. in History (cum laude) from the University of New England and a Master of Legal Studies from Northeastern University. He has also completed studies in Intellectual Property at Harvard Summer School and Negotiation Mastery at Harvard Business School.
