Brandon Wheat Kings forward Matteo Michels has committed to Vermont, it was announced earlier this week.

Hailing from Colleyville, Texas, Michels just finished his fourth season in the WHL and first full year with the Wheat Kings, putting up 20 goals and 35 assists for 55 points in 68 regular season games. With the Wheat Kings having made the playoffs, Michels got into five playoff games, collecting three goals in the process.

Drafted by the Regina Pats in the first round of the 2020 WHL US Prospect Draft, Michels played in 230 career regular season games throughout his junior career, scoring 39 goals and adding 59 assists for 98 points.

Before making his way out west, Michels played his minor hockey with Bishop Kearney Selects and the Dallas Stars.

With Michels joining the Catamounts this fall, they will be getting someone who has the ability to score goals and make plays whenever he has the puck in the offensive zone. Capable of finding teammates in open ice, even under pressure, Michels has what it takes to be a difference maker.
