Colby Drost has been involved in the game as a player, coach, scout, and part of hockey operations at all levels. Colbyʼs experience throughout all levels of hockey have included midgets, prep school, college, and the USHL. These experiences have allowed Colby to build a network of contacts throughout North America that range from NCAA to midget program relationships.
For the past 4 seasons, Colby was the Director, Scouting for the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United States Hockey League. Working in tandem with the General Manager, Colby helped the Fighting Saints to 4 playoff appearances that saw Dubuque win at least one round. While working for Dubuque, the organization had 14 NHL prospects/draft picks, over 70 NCAA Division I commitments, and numerous elite young prospects.
Colby also worked in midget hockey with the Skipjacks Hockey Program. Over four season, Colby recruited 21 players that committed to Division I programs, while playing for the organization that were from across the United States. The recruits included 17 USHL draft picks and 19 NAHL placements.
Colby spent the 2015-2016 season at Skidmore College, where he acted as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. In one season, Colby was able to recruit 13 student-athletes that helped the program to its second ever national ranking during the 2016-2017 season.
A graduate from the University of New England, Colby was a four year goaltender that started his career at Niagara University before transferring. During his Senior season, Colby was an All-Conference selection and helped the University of New England to its highest finish in program history. Colby graduated cum laude with a B.A. in History and went on to receive his Master of Legal Studies at Northeastern University.
